Introducing the 2022 Eclipse Cross

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross received a significant update for the 2022 model year. This compact crossover has a new style with updated front and rear fascias. A new, more modern rear liftgate no longer has the split rear window, and this SUV now has a revised suspension. Additional updates include a new 8-inch infotainment screen for the LE trim and up, and you’ll appreciate the newly standard advanced driver aids. Take a look at the updated 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

Model Lineup

The ES is the entry-level Eclipse Cross trim. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, and LED daytime running lights. A step up to the LE gets you black exterior trim elements, 18-inch wheels, and LED fog lights, along with rain-sensing windshield wipers and rear bumper step protectors. The sportier SE trim adds automatic LED headlights and chrome exterior trim elements, and if you add the Panorama Package, it comes with black roof rails and a panoramic sunroof.

The top-level trim is the SEL. This model has a gloss black front bumper in addition to all the features of the SE. You can add the Touring Package for body-color bumpers in the front and back, black roof rails, and a power panoramic roof.

Power and Performance

Every Eclipse Cross comes with the Mitsubishi MIVEC 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. It generates 152 horsepower and gets 184 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard no matter which trim you choose, but you can opt for the Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel-drive system.

Technology

Technology features in this Mitsubishi start with a seven-inch touch screen for the infotainment system, Bluetooth, a four-speaker stereo system, and a USB port. Steering-wheel controls for phone and audio also come standard. The LE upgrades to an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it adds satellite radio and extra front USB ports. Voice recognition is an additional feature in the SE. If you add the Touring Package to the SEL, it will get you an eight-speaker Mitsubishi stereo system.

Safety Equipment

Updates for the 2022 Eclipse Cross make forward collision warning with automatic braking, pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning standard for every trim. Every model also has a full suite of air bags, anti-lock brakes, and hill start assist. The LE adds automatic high beam headlights, and the SE has an auto-dimming rearview mirror, electronic parking braking with an automatic hold function, and blind-spot monitoring. The SE also comes with lane-change assist and a rear cross-traffic alert system.

Another step up to the SEL adds a multi-view camera system, and if you add the Touring Package, it adds forward collision mitigation with automatic high-speed braking, pedestrian detection, and an adaptive cruise-control system. This package also comes with a head-up display and an auto-dimming mirror rearview mirror with Homelink.

The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross received some significant updates. These add to the sporty feel of this SUV and make it safer and more stylish. Take one for a test drive at Tim Short Mitsubishi!
